A Year Full of Goodbye's

This last month we have mourned the loss of my sweet grandmother and now we are saying goodbye to Jon’s “grand-dad”, who passed away last night. We will miss granddad, but are equally happy for him since we know that he has been reunited with Jon’s grandmother who passed away over 2 years ago. The year 2006 took us by suprise, my grandpa Vest died in March of ’06 and Jon’s grandma Wirthlin passed away later that year, in August. Each of them left a spouse and both of our remaining grandparents have spent two years missing their loved ones who went before them. Now, as we mourn the loss of both grandma Vest and Jon's granddad Wirthlin, we are sad to have lost people so dear to us, but we are also happy for them.

Jon’s granddad was a great blessing and example to our family. We plan to continue his legacy by teaching our children the things that he showed us were important. Like hard work and selflessness. He was also very humble and that is an attribute that I hope that my kids will learn through us sharing the story of his life with them. We are thankful to have a picture of our boys with granddad on Christmas Eve last year. It is something they will treasure.
