The girls are 1!

Sophie and her smile
December 27th was the Twins first birthday. What cute and fun girls they have turned out to be. We didn't do anything big this year. My dad was sick with the flu and my mom was home with a sick husband, so we had the Wards over for a spaghetti dinner. We will have to celebrate with my family soon.
I am starting to forget all of the girls "firsts" already, so I want to jot a few down. Sophie's first word was mama, of course:) and her first word combination was "hi dada". She is a real talker. She loves language both listening and talking, though most of the time she speaks jibber-jabber. She does say "hi dada" pretty consistently when Jon comes in the door from work. She is soooo excited to see daddy. Sophie started walking the week before her birthday. She was really pushed by her sister since Kate was walking a month earlier. She loves people. Loves to study faces and give kisses. She loves to wave and watch others. She seems to study Kate all day long. She has a soft and loving personality.
Kate is not much of a talker. She grunts a lot when she wants something though she says mama and dada on occasion and maybe a few other sounds that resemble words. She is our walker. She started walking early in November. She wasn't quite 11 months. She is so tiny and to see her walk is such a funny thing. She loves to play and walk around our house gathering things. She walks into one room and picks up an article of clothing or a shoe and carries it to another where she drops it off and picks something else up. She works on this all day long. She absolutely loves to hide in her curtains and scare Sophie. She is a little mischievous. She started out feisty from the moment we met her. We love this side of her personality.
This year has been such an adventure. It is so nice to have reached this milestone. We are excited to watch the girls grow and hope that they will be best friends. It is hard to raise four kids that are young, but I am glad that they will have siblings that are close in age. I think that the hard work will pay off as they get older. I always wished that my brothers and sister were a little closer in age to me. I would have loved to go to school with Tommy. It would have been fun. I hope that our kids are good friends. So far they each have a buddy and that makes it all worth it.

They are adorable-- I can't believe it has already been a year! I am sure it is nice for you to have them a little less dependent... but then again maybe they are not! I guess I'll find out soon enough
