The End of Another School Year

Jackson and Mrs. Wilkins

It seems like I was just blogging about Jackson entering Kindergarten. Today he just completed 1st grade. He has grown so much since that first day of Kindergarten. First grade was quite the jump. Jackson loved Kindergarten, he had an excellent teacher that was more loving than I am. She loved all of her Kindergarteners and was great at nurturing and teaching them. This year he lucked out again with another great teacher. How we have gotten so lucky, I will never know.

First grade teachers are a mixture of that nurturing and caring teacher and someone who is preparing them for the academic world of 2nd grade. There was a lot of work, but there was love to go with it. I am afraid next year will just be a lot of work. Despite the shocker of all-day school and being away from mom, Jack did well. He is reading above grade level, had 100% spelling and we have discovered his vocabulary skills are very advanced. He is struggling with handwriting and that kept him from receiving almost all 4's on his report card. He got all E's(Excellent) and one S (for listening and following directions...Jack always needs individual instructions) in his Social/Work skills. So, to me he had a great year. Alot of academic and social improvement. We are really proud of Jack. He is working hard and becoming a great kid!
